Resurfacing of a segment of Victoria Road in Sea Point

02 May 2024

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises members of the public on intended roadworks along Victoria Road; from Queens Road to Mount Pleasant Steps in Sea Point. This forms part of the City’s regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of its road network. The work is planned to take place from today, 2 May 2024, until Sunday, 30 June 2024, between 09:00 and 15:30, Monday to Friday. No night and weekend work will be done.

The resurfacing of Sea Point's Victoria Road, from Queens Road to Mount Pleasant Steps will include the rehabilitation of the existing pavement and the repairs to sidewalks.

Where required, channels to the storm water infrastructure, will also be repaired.

Residents and business owners can expect a level of noise and dust pollution during the times of work.

Congestion is expected and it is recommended that road users consider alternative routes. A stop-and-go-system will be in place.

'The City would like to thank road users for their patience during this infrastructure-led project that aims to improve the road network and enable economic growth. We ask that road users exercise caution while these roadworks are under way. Once this resurfacing is done, we will all benefit from safer and smoother road conditions in this part of Sea Point,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
